What is Power IC & How to Identify in Mobile Phone 

Power management integrated circuits (power management ICs or PMICs or PMU as unit) are integrated circuits (or a system block in a system-on-a-chip device) for managing power requirements of the host system. 


मोबाइल फ़ोन में पॉवर मैनेजमेंट IC मोबाइल में पॉवर को कंट्रोल करती है एक पॉवर को मोबाइल फ़ोन में कंट्रोल कर के मोबाइल के अलग अलग सेक्शन में डिस्ट्रीब्यूट करती है 

Thus PMIC refers to a wide range of chips, however most include some form of electronic power conversionand/or relevant power control functions. A PMIC is often included in battery-operated devices such as mobile phones  to decrease the amount of space required.

The term PMIC refers to a class of integrated circuits that perform various functions related to power requirements. A PMIC may have one or more of the following functions:

• DC to DC conversion
• Battery charging
• Power-source selection
• Voltage scaling
• Power sequencing
• Miscellaneous functions

Power management ICs are solid state devices that control the flow and direction of electrical power. Many electrical devices have multiple internal voltages (e.g., 5 V, 3.3 V, 1.8 V, etc.) and sources of external power (e.g., wall outlet, battery, etc.), meaning that the power design of the device has multiple requirements for operation. 

Features

A PMIC may include battery management, voltage regulation, and charging functions. It may include a DC to DC converter to allow dynamic voltage scaling. Some models are known to feature up to 95% power conversion efficiency. Some models integrate with dynamic frequency scaling in a combination known as DVFS (dynamic voltage and frequency scaling).

यह पॉवर सेक्शन में लगी होती है कई मोबाइलो में Audio IC / Logic IC / Charging IC / Power IC आदि को साथ मिलाकर एक IC बनी होती है जिसे UEM IC ( Universal Energy Management  कहते है.

·         पहचान – यह IC दिखने में वर्गाकार होती है और यह लगभग CPU के बराबर आकार की होती है मोबाइल की PCB प्लेट पर यह CPU के बाद दुसरी सबसे बड़ी साइज की ICहोती है । इस IC के आस-पास बहुत सारे भुरे रंग के चारो और कैपेसिटर लगे होते है. इसके पास में RTC लगा होता है एवं कएल लगी होती है | 

• · कार्य – पॉवर IC मोबाइल फोन की प्रमुख IC होती है क्योंकि इसके द्वारा बहुत सारे कार्य किये जाते है यह मोबाइल फोन की बैटरी से करेन्ट लेकर पुरे मोबाइल में पॉवर सप्लाई (Supply) करती है इस IC में फॉल्ट आने पर मोबाइल में पॉवर सप्लाई बंद हो जाती है । 

•  खराबी – इसके खराब होने पर मोबाइल फोन पुरा बंद (Dead) हो सकता है ।
